Hakirah, The Flatbush Journal of Jewish Law and Thought is a publication of
Hakirah, Inc. a non-profit private foundation exempt under section 501 (c) (3).

Mission Statement

The purpose of Hakirah, The Flatbush Journal of Jewish Law and Thought, is to promote the intellectual and spiritual growth of the Flatbush Jewish community.

To accomplish this Hakirah  will:

  Provide an opportunity for members of our community who have been studying in depth to disseminate the results of their study for careful review.
  Encourage others to join in this type of study.
  Create a forum for the discussion of issues of Hashkafa  and Halakha  relevant to the community from a perspective of careful analysis of the primary Torah sources.

Members of the community are encouraged to comment on the articles that they have read and subsequent issues will allow considerable space for the reader’s comments and the author’s response.
